Career of David Briggeler

I am a business informatics specialist (HF) and live near Bern, Switzerland. I started in 2012 in IT support at BKW. For almost eleven years I worked at Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), first in application operations, from 2021 as a scrum master. Since October 2026 I have been working full-time for Eventforum Bern, and from January 2027 I will be a senior scrum master at Mobiliar.

  1. from 01/2027

    Senior scrum master

    Mobiliar

    From January 2027 I will work as a senior scrum master at Mobiliar, a Swiss insurer. That takes me back to agile teamwork, with the experience from SBB and from Eventforum. I will write about the work there once I have started.

    In July 2026 I put briggeler.ch online as my personal website. In my spare time I build AI agents, automations and websites. My agent Hermes runs around the clock on a server of my own and writes drafts for two blogs on weekdays.

    Chairman of the board, full-time since October 2026

    Eventforum Bern

    I joined Eventforum Bern in July 2021, at first as a volunteer in marketing, business development and event technology. I have chaired the board since July 2026. Since October 2026 I have been working full-time for Eventforum on business development, digitalisation and automation.

    I led the relaunch of the website in September 2026 on the Eventforum side and built the booking configurator myself. I produce the quarterly report to the board from the accounting data. For events in several languages I am developing simultaneous interpretation with AI.

  4. 02/2021 to 09/2026

    Scrum master

    Swiss Federal Railways SBB, IT division, Bern

    I took on the scrum master duties in February 2021 and the role in July 2021. Until the end of 2024 I worked with a team that runs and develops a business-critical planning system. From 2025 I was with the team at the interface between SAP and resource planning.

    We worked with SAFe in an agile release train, with PI planning and inspect & adapt. I supported the team and the product owner and followed impediments to their cause, often across team boundaries. From 2025 I also managed the finances of two products and reconciled the forecast with the actual hours every month, so that planning became more accurate.

    Application operation manager and business analyst

    Swiss Federal Railways SBB, IT division, Bern

    I moved to SBB in December 2015. As application operation manager I was responsible for applications that other people use every day to plan their work. From May 2019 I was technically responsible for a business-critical planning system, on call for anything short-term. I planned and carried out the deployments, monitored the environments and helped steer a development partner in Romania.

    As a business analyst I gathered requirements and turned them into work packages a development team can implement.

    ICT supporter

    BKW, Mittelland region

    I started in IT in 2012 in IT support at BKW, first at the service desk, later on site with the users in the Mittelland region. That is where I saw how people actually work with software. Alongside the job I completed my degree in business informatics (HF).

    Marketing and product management

    After my commercial diploma I worked in marketing, in project management and as a junior product manager.

As a scrum master

For me the team comes first. I facilitate the events, keep distractions away from the team and follow impediments until the cause is clear. Numbers help me with that. Reports from Jira, Confluence, Power BI and Excel show dependencies, lead times and patterns that keep coming back.

The projects on this website are about the same question: how does a process run reliably, even when I am not standing next to it?
